Job description
You will work on in the design and analysis of several studies, including cost effictiveness studies and quality of life/outcome studies, in collaboration with clinical departments. You will report findings of these studies in scientific articles. The intention is that this results in a PhD thesis.

Background: Evidence-based efficiency of curative and preventive care is important to simultaneously optimize health outcomes by improving treatment for patients, while keeping health care costs as low as possible. To achieve this, it is important to improve methods to measure outcome (quality of life, burden of disease, cost, and efficiency) and to study the implementation and evaluation of (prevention) interventions within health care. As junior researcher you will be able to explore methodological innovations to optimize the measurement of outcomes, efficiency and implementation research. This job will also allow you to gain experience with epidemiological, economic and social research to support prevention. The main area of application is trauma.

The projects you will be involved in will enable you to collaborate with a research team that includes a comprehensive mixture of relevant backgrounds, including public health, economics, epidemiology and psychology as well as researchers and medical professionals of clinical departments.

At the Department of Public Health, we are dedicated to improve population health at local, national, and international level through excellent research and education. The research will be conducted within the research line Health Technology Assessment and Implementation. This research line harbours a great deal of expertise on methodology for developing quality of life and health technology assessment (HTA) research. Our research group has a strong focus on methodology and of outcome measurements and the quantification of disease burden and costs. The field of trauma is the primary area of application. In addition, we work together with several clinical departments on conducting efficiency studies.

Qualifications and skills
The position is offered to MSc graduates in Health Sciences, Health Economics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Medicine, Psychology, or a related field. Key skills that the candidate will be developing and working with are quantitative analysis and scientific communication (oral and written). We offer the opportunity for candidates to deepen their affinity with quantitative research and cost effectiveness studies and acquire further experience in advanced data analysis, modelling, and writing of scientific papers. The department further highly supports candidates who want to further develop their skills in goal-oriented working, creativity, initiative, engagement and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Being able to present a certificate of good conduct, a valid proof of identity and diplomas are conditions for the appointment.

Terms of employment
The gross monthly salary amounts a maximum of € 4481,- (scale 10), depending on your level of education and relevant experience and based on a full-time working week of 36 hours. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Medical Centers (CAO UMC).
