Mirjam Sprangers is professor at the Department of Medical Psychology, Academic Medical Center, University of Amsterdam. She coordinates a research line on quality of life that addresses the theoretical and methodological conundrums of patient-reported outcomes research in somatic settings. She is also Foreign Adjunct Professor of the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden.
Mirjam Sprangers earned her PhD degree (1989) at the Department of Psychological Methods from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She has subsequently worked as a research psychologist at the Netherlands Cancer Institute before she started in the AMC in 1995. She has been a research collaborator in the Department of Health Sciences Research at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, US. She has been and currently is member of various scientific and professional organizations. She received the 2014 International Society for Quality of Life Research President's award for her contribution to the field of quality of life research.
