Martijn Huisman is a psychologist (MSc, Leiden University, 1998) and epidemiologist (MSc, Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences, 2003) and co-chairs the Aging & Later Life research program. He obtained his PhD in public health (2004) from the Department of Public Health, Erasmus MC on the topic of socioeconomic health inequalities in old age. Since then he has held an active interest in the topics of health inequalities and epidemiology of ageing. Martijn is scientific director of the Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam. He has been full professor of Epidemiology of Ageing since 2017, at the Department of Epidemiology and Data Science (Amsterdam UMC) and the Department of Sociology (Vrije Universiteit).
