Prof. J.E.W. (Jacqueline) Broerse PhD

Jacqueline Broerse is a full professor of innovation and communication in the Health and Life Sciences. She is head of the section Science Communication of the Athena Institute of the Faculty of Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Since February 2017 she is also Vice-Dean Research of the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Sciences. She holds a master in Biomedical Sciences (cum laude). In 1998 she obtained her PhD degree on the development of an interactive approach to include users in research agenda setting processes on biotechnology. Her current research is focused on methodology development for and implementation of multi-stakeholder innovation processes, reflexive monitoring & evaluation of interventions, and system innovations, in order to contribute to a better embedding of new interventions in society (globally). Many of her research projects are in the health sector. She is program coordinator of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Degree Program on Transdisciplinary Solutions to Global Health Challenges Furthermore, she is a board member of the Dutch national research school in Science, Technology and Modern Culture (WTMC). Furthermore she is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Dutch Royal Tropical Institute and a member of the Advisory Board of the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board.
She coordinates and lectures various courses on health policy, health systems and health communication. In addition, she is educational director of the research master Global Health and she is chair of the educational boards on bachelor/master Biomedical Sciences and master Management, Policy Analysis and entrepreneurship in the health and life sciences (MPA).
