Dr. D.S. (Dionne) Kringos

Healthy health care systems learn and improve through the measurement of performance, delivering quality care that is valued by patients and professionals and contributing to health for all.
Dr. Dionne Kringos is Assistant Professor of Health Systems and Services Research.
Dionne is trained in Health Policy and Management (2003); Health Economics, Policy and Law (2005), as well as in Health Services Research (2005) and in (Primary) Health Care System Performance Measurement (PhD 2012). Since 2012 she works as a researcher at the Department of Public Health of Amsterdam UMC, location AMC, where she currently is Programme Leader of the Primary Health Care System Development and Evaluation Research Group. In 2014-2015, she was a Commonwealth Fund Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy and Practice at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Boston, USA). In 2016 she was appointed as a member of the European Commission's renewed Expert Panel on Health. Since March 2017, she is Head of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Quality and Equity in Primary Health Care Systems. She is currently also leading the International Training Network for Healthcare Performance Intelligence Professionals (HealthPros), funded by the EC.
Her research focus is on Health Systems Performance Assessment, Primary Care, Quality of Care, Indicator Development, International Comparisons, and Health Policy Analysis. She is dedicated to supporting evidence-based decision making that contributes to health system sustainability and improvement. She therefore conducts health systems performance research which closely connects current policy and practice challenges to policy options and practice implementation strategies. In her research, she works closely with international organizations (e.g. World Bank, OECD, WHO, EC) and national governments, to study and advise on health system strengthening.
