The ICT4PAL-project from Amsterdam UMC, that aims to make palliative care more accessible for patients, offers patients the chance to improve palliative care through patient participation in the design stage. For the development of Oncokompas the perspectives of cancer patients were used to improve the design of the instrument. The coordinator of the project, Drs. Karen Holtmaat, emphasizes the importance of the input from patients to better align the design of Oncokompas with the needs of patients in order to improve the accessibility to palliative care.
