‘Sarphati Amsterdam, research for healthy living’ is a unique scientific research institution in Amsterdam which focuses mainly on innovative, interdisciplinary research into effective and sustainable prevention of non-communicable diseases, such as overweight and obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Its aim is to promote a healthy lifestyle, optimum living conditions and to prevent overweight and obesity among young people in Amsterdam. It lays the foundations for preventing and combatting these disorders in the long term.
Public Health Service (GGD Amsterdam) and the Amsterdam knowledge institutes (AMC, VUmc, VU, UvA, AUAS) are working together on innovative interdisciplinary research within Sarphati Amsterdam to promote effective and sustainable prevention of lifestyle diseases, such as (serious) obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. and vascular diseases. The municipality of Amsterdam aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and optimal living conditions and to prevent (serious) obesity in the Amsterdam youth. This lays the foundation for the prevention and combating of these long-term diseases. In multidisciplinary teams we work on solutions in the field of prevention and care by linking practice, research, policy and implementation. Some research projects are (partly) financed by private parties.
