The working group ‘Amsterdam UMC smoke-free’ has received the External Visibility Award for their work to make both locations of Amsterdam UMC and their surrounding areas smoke-free. State Secretary Paul Blokhuis declared the Amsterdam UMC smoke-free at 30 September 2019. APH-researcher Jentien Vermeulen spoke at this official event about her dissertation on the correlation of psychiatric disorders and smoking. Additionally, she was part of the group who fought in 2019 to make the hospitals smoke-free. Currently, the group is still active in their endeavor to motivate people to quit smoking.
