APH, Dionne Kringos
The AMC department of Public Health and the Health Systems and Services Research Group (led by Dionne Kringos and Niek Klazinga) is maximizing opportunities to be supportive to networks and parties that are involved in managing the COVID-19 crisis, by offering analytical support. This support is focussed on capturing in a structured way what is going on, and what kind of evidence is needed in the near future to pick up lessons in relation to Health System Resilience and Responsiveness. In doing so it is working with WHO Europe, HOPE (The European Network of Hospital Managers), and the HealthPros Network (International Training Network for Healthcare Performance Intelligence Professionals).
For instance, being a WHO Collaborating Centre for Equity and Quality of Primary Health Systems, the Group is working with WHO Europe to analyse the role of primary health care, in relation to home care, long-term care and hospital care in different phases of the COVID-19 pandemic. Within the International Training Network for Healthcare Performance Intelligence Professionals, the Group is investigating the actionability of performance intelligence used during the COVID-19 crisis.
In addition, the Group is teaming up with Health System experts (former and current members of the European Commission’s Expert Panel on Effective Ways to Invest in Health) to bring to a broader public attention (through journal publication) the importance of European solidarity and cross-country cooperation in response to COVID-19, also beyond the European borders.
