Bastiaan Bruinsma and Ysbrand van der Werf co-author a review paper in Trends in Neurosciences

In a collaborative effort between the VU/VUmc and the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience, Bastiaan Bruinsma from the Department of Integrative Neurophysiology and Ysbrand van der Werf from the Department of Anatomy and Neurosciences have published a review paper in Trends in Neurosciences: The Sleeping Cerebellum. In the manuscript, first-authored by Canto and Onuki and last-authored by Van der Werf and De Zeeuw, the authors describe the phenomenon of sleep in an area that to date has received little interest. The review highlights research data that show a bidirectional involvement between the cerebral cortex and the cerebellum in sleep regulation and function.
