The AGEM clinical research matching grant

The goal of the AGEM clinical research grant is to support investigator initiated clinical research that can improve care of AGEM diseases (metabolic disorders, gastro-intestinal (premalignant) diseases, endocrine diseases).

The grant can be used for support with statistical planning, protocol writing, obtaining ethical permission, salary for research trial nurse/coordinator/data manager/PhD student.

AGEM contributes a maximum of €15.000. At least half of the total research budget has to be demonstrably secured by sources other than AGEM.

Eligibility requirements

  • To be eligible to apply for the AGEM clinical research matching grant:
  • The research has to be investigator initiated.
  • The subject of the research fits with the mission of the AGEM research institute: “to perform research that promotes healthy nutrition and metabolism, prevents or cures gastrointestinal, endocrine and inherited and acquired metabolic diseases and improves the well-being of our patients”.
  • The applicant is an AGEM principal investigator (PI) or is (or will be) embedded in a research group of a PI from the Amsterdam UMC who is participant of the AGEM research institute (responsible AGEM PI).
  • At least half of the total research budget has to be demonstrably secured by sources other than AGEM.
  • The research project has to contribute to collaboration within AGEM.


The application should include:

1. Application form:

  • Personal information
  • Proposal (not more than 2 A4)

2. CV of applicant

3. Letter of recommendation of the responsible AGEM PI (only if the applicant is not an AGEM PI)

4. Budget of the total project stating how the money will be spent:

  • Include the total budget of the research project and indicate the costs the AGEM grant will cover.
  • Indicate why the projects needs AGEM support.

    Submission deadline

    The deadline for submission is: May 28th 2020; 12:00h

    Incomplete applications and applications submitted after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.

    Selection procedure

    The AGEM research board will judge the applications on how well the researchers and the proposal fits within the goals and aims of the AGEM research institute.

    The award ceremony will take place during an AGEM event in 2020.
