3 positions available for a Post-doc, PhD candidate, and Research technician
in the Cellular Protein Chemistry group (Braakman lab)
Utrecht University, the Netherlands
Maintaining the natural shape of proteins is essential for life. Failure to do so results in lethal, incurable diseases. Our work is dedicated to the origin of protein failure diseases and the regulation and mechanisms of our natural defense systems. Post-docs, PhD students, and technicians in our laboratory work independently but in teams on projects in the field of Molecular Cell Biology and Biochemistry. We therefore expect independence as well as a team spirit from everyone. The projects involve collaborations with Biotech industry on the inherited disease cystic fibrosis, and are aimed at publishing. Focus is the folding, transport, and function of the (mutant) CFTR protein in mammalian cells.
We are looking for 3 colleagues with PhD/MSc/BSc in Biochemistry, Molecular Cell Biology or a related field, with a drive for science and affinity for our research, the ability to work independently and in a team, and a good command of the English language. No specific research experience or skills are required, but applicants need to be quick learners and have an affinity with the biochemical and (molecular) cell biological approaches from the Braakman lab. Additional information about the vacancy can be obtained from Dr. P. van der Sluijs or Dr. B. Kleizen.
