Jan Van den Bossche (Molecular Cell Biology and Immunology, VUmc) has been awarded an ERA-CVD joint transnational cardiovascular research grant. The consortium consists of early-career European researchers (Stoyan Ivanov, INSERM Nice, France; Florian Kahles, University Hospital Aachen, Germany; Arvand Haschemi, Medical University of Vienna, Austria) and together they receive € 1,000,000 for the proposed “MyPenPath” project. Together they will define to contribution of glucose metabolism, and in particular the pentose phosphate pathway, in myeloid immune cells during atherosclerosis.
