At the second International Summer Institute on Network Physiology (ISINP) at Lake Como in Italy from 29 July till August 2, Jennifer Kerkman presented her poster, entitled: Dynamic connectivity in the musculosketelal system reveals changes in motor control between different modes of coordination during walking. This research is realized in cooperation with Annike Bekius, Tjeerd Boonstra, Andreas Daffertshofer and Nadia Dominici. Muscle synergies reflect how coordinated movements are manifested via muscle activities. However, little is known about the way in which synergies are established. Muscle networks can unravel modular structures in the neuromuscular system which may modulate muscle activity to account for changes in interlimb coordination during walking.
