Sports Medicine Resident Guus Reurink (Academic Center for Evidence Based Medicine AMC and OLVG) was awarded second place in the 2017 British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM) PhD Academy Award.
The BJSM is the world leading Sports Medicine Journal (IF 6.577) and represents worldwide 26 national sports medicine associations. The prestigious PhD Academy Awards recognise and celebrate the contribution of younger and emerging leaders through the BJSM PhD Oscars!
Reurink successfully completed his thesis ‘Managing Acute Hamstring Injuries in Athletes’ in 2016. His work focused on the value of MRI and clinical management of acute hamstring injuries. He is one of very few PhD students to have had the honor of getting his work published in major journals as NEJM, in addition to eight articles published in the top 3 of sports medicine journals.
