Health Behaviors & Chronic Diseases

The health behaviors covered in this program include smoking, alcohol use, physical activity, sedentary behavior, sleep and dietary behavior. The chronic diseases covered in this program include diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Determinants of health behaviors are measured, surveyed and studied. We examine patterns of health behaviors, genomic and environmental determinants of these behaviors as well as their impact on chronic diseases and functioning.

We develop and evaluate (e-/m-health) interventions to promote healthy behavior with the aim of reducing chronic disease morbidity and mortality and improve quality of life. We use the evidence and apply theory based development, implementation and evaluation.
