Nature Genetics publication for NTR and NESDA about genetic basis of major depression

An important study in Nature Genetics identified 44 significant genetic loci associated with depression in 135.500 people with depression and 344.000 controls. Of the 44 loci, 30 are newly discovered and 14 loci were also identified in previous studies.

The study is published by the The Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PCG), an international confederation that unites researchers to conduct studies on genome-wide genomic data for psychiatric disorders. The Dutch Twin Register (NTR) and Nederlandse Studie naar Depressie en Angst (NESDA) have contributed to this important publication in Nature Genetics and are part of the PGC.
