The Organization Committee of the SPINOZA CHAIR, set up by the Amsterdam University Association on behalf of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Amsterdam, has awarded the SPINOZA CHAIR to Professor Hauke Lang from 26 to 29 June 2018.

 Hauke Lang (MA, MD, FACS) is Professor of Surgery at the University Medicine Mainz. He is the chief of the Department of General, Visceral and Transplantation Service, one of the leading national centers for oncologic surgery and liver transplantation. It became the first Center of Excellence for Liver Surgery in Germany. Special interest of Professor Lang is surgical management of primary hepatobiliary tumors. His research has focused on novel surgical techniques, such as staged hepatectomy and ALPPS, use of 3-D reconstruction and computer-assisted-resection-planning as well as intraoperative navigation during liver surgery.
