The AG&M PhD-students retreat 2018

The AG&M PhD-students retreat is a meeting for all PhD-students from the AMC and VUmc with a research subject in the fields of Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Nutrition and/or Metabolism. It will be a meeting in which PhD-students can get to know their colleagues and discover, share and learn from each other’s research. It is also an excellent opportunity to practice presentation and chairing skills.

When: April 5th & 6th 2018

Where: Bilderberg Hotel ‘t Speulderbos, Garderen

Registration

There are no costs for this two-day meeting. However, you will be charged with a no-show fee if you don’t show up without a cancellation (48h in advance). Lunch (2x), dinner, breakfast and one night stay in a double room are included. You are expected to attend both days.

Registration is now closed.

If you have any questions please send an email to: agm@amc.uva.nl.

Submit abstract/project description at registration

At the time of registration, all participating PhD-students should send in an abstract or project (plan) description of maximally 250 words.

You can choose between two formats:

  1. Classical abstract: This format is for more senior PhD-students that generated enough data to write a result and conclusion paragraph.
  2. Project (plan) description: This format is for junior PhD-students that have not yet generated much data, but can describe what research they are planning to conduct.

We aim to maximize the number of people that can present their project/plans/data, although we might not be able to fit all into the program. We have two presentation formats, and ask you to indicate for which type your abstract would be best suited.

  1. Classical presentation: 10 minutes presentation (ppt-slides) (including 2 min questions/discussion).
  2. Elevator pitch: 2 minutes presentation (ppt-slides) shortly outlining the research project (no questions/discussion).

While preparing your presentation, please keep in mind that your presentation should appeal to and be understandable for a broad audience, since clinical, translational and fundamental researchers from a diversity of fields (Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Nutrition and Metabolism) will be present.
